Dujiangyan is located on the northwest edge of Chengdu Plain, Dujiangyan city, named after the world famous irrigation system-Dujiangyan, is renowned as the "Origin of Abundant Land". 

It is rich in both natural and cultural resources holding a world cultural heritage site-Mount Qingcheng & Dujiangyan Irrigation System and a National Nature Reserve-Longxi & Hongkou within its border. Dujiangyan city is rich in kinds of resources, and attractive with spectacular landscapes. These characteristics are mainly embodied in the following three aspects: firstly, the city is full of historical sites, especially the most famous ancient irrigation system that is over 2000 years old and still functions today, and the birth place of Taoism-Mount Qingcheng, now they have been inscribed into the World Heritage List; secondly, the city has excellent eco-environment housing more than 14000 species of higher animals and plants including some rare and endangered species, such as giant panda, golden monkey, and dove tree.

Dujiangyan Irrigation Project was constructed around 250 BC as water conservation works with advanced technology, is long-established water conservation works. For over two thousand years the whole system has functioned perfectly, serving as not only as flood prevention but also as an immense source for irrigation as well as a means to facilitate shipping and wood drifting. It has contributed greatly to the richness of Chengdu Plain and helps it earn its reputation as "The Land of Abundance". Dujiangyan is a brilliant city in Southwest China, and was awarded with many famous titles, such as China's Top Tourist City, Key National Park, National Model Ecological Area, National Hygienic City, National Historic and Cultural City, National Landscape City, City with Advanced Culture, National Award for Best Living Environment, Dubai International Award for Best Practices to Improve Living Environment, and The Most Glamorous City of China.
